Granny
told me a story, and it seems she knew I would always remember. Well, the story
keeps coming to heart for many reasons, and one that I’d not forget in a jiffy;
whenever there are choices to make between the weak and the strong, the poor
and the rich, the supposedly dumb and the so-called smart; then I remember
granny’s story.
Take
it you were there when David picked some stones and advanced against the giant,
you would guess he has some game of birds to get, right? Well, I’m very sure
nothing would happen on that day, if David was wise enough to summon shield and
sword. A slim safe from a blow of death would have been the story headline in
our children Sunday schools.
That’s
bible story right? Yes, but I'm still yet to tell granny’s story that keeps
coming true. I also called Nancy a fool when we went to swim and she would jump
into the big pool only with a tube of blown air tied round her waist. Well,
that was my first time at pool. Granny’s tale comes true again! As simple as it
may mean to throw myself dead into water, I realised how every great swimming
athletes of the world always have a foolish mind to think they are too tender
not to float on waters, so they dive through big waters in seconds, and whim!
They win medals! Now, let me share granny’s story with you…
How
to Become Successful: Always Remember that the Other Side is not Dumb; My Granny's Story.
Sean Blanda seems to agree with my granny when he explains his thought in his article; the other side is not dumb. Granny told me there were two men who were called to a feast of many meals. One was rich, while the other was poor. Granny finished her story so quickly and said; the rich went back home with hunger, while the poor went home filled to his belly brim. The rich was asked how the feast went; only the poor eat whatever you give he replied. Get the gist; Granny always says that the wise fail in life because they have too many choices, too many options, too many calculations, too may paths to take – only towards a destination. But the seemingly foolish ones do well, because they take actions over one sure and available path, than keep scampering over decisions.
One
thoughtful way to becoming successful is to always see every opportunity like
the only one you have with no other left to come. Take a time to ask what makes
others walk the paths they toll before thinking they were dumb. Break lose from
the echo chambers of your conveniences, and imagine all you have is one choice
at a time, as one day at a time, and as one life in a lifetime.
Stoop
low enough to see what the seemingly dwarf in mind keep to seeing that brings
them to tables with the tall. The way to success is no one way, those who have
chosen a long run to you may simply be paying the price that keeps them established
up there. You may be surprised they are not dumb when they eat the dividend of
their bent shoulders to labour, while you walk in your corridors of
convenience. Success is never about getting to the top, it is staying there.
So,
my granny told me; the rich man gets to a feast and opens through all the
meals. He says to himself; ‘not sure if these are good enough for me …not
sure how they’ll taste different from the royal chefs’ that serve me… I’m used
to this kind of diet, I should watch it… And too many more reasons that the
man whose choice is to simply feast would not be burdened with. Know this,
even when the rich and the poor has food to eat, the poor happens to eat first.
Granny said to me.
In
life, successful men are those who always open up to see what others may be
doing worse or better than they do. To them, no one is dumb. To them, every
opportunity comes like the first and only. Eat now that success is served in
humble silvers.
