Animals of various breeds have
their homes in our land.
Our land is seen as envy of the nations
of the earth, wealthy in
human and natural resources.
So much riches are buried in our soil;
the gold, oil & treasures of all shades and shapes.
Our leaves are green and fresh,
Our leaves are green and fresh,
our vegetations are leafy and full.
Wildlife prefer our land to other nations
and deadly creatures avoid our land.
Our women are productive & strong.
Our men are dynamites blazing trails
in human endeavors.
Our children are lush like
well watered meadow
our youth like cedars of Lebanon.
Everything is fine until
we allow power to divide us
and greed to enter our tent.
We sold our inheritance for fame
and eat up the future of coming generation.
fertile land, focusing on
black fluid found years later.
We sat on the dirt, allowed our clothes be soiled
till we painted our fertile land with blood.
Our villages are no longer safe neither
are our farmland good for cultivation.
Bloodletting became the order of the day;
foreigners lynching our men and women.
Our children are no longer safe
Our children are no longer safe
in our backyard again and
our schools became the sheep market
where our children are carried to hiding places.
Yet, our land is wealthy,
our land flows with milk and honey.
But who will rebuild and restore
wealth and make our land safe again?
Let the old and the young rise to rebuild,
Let the old and the young rise to rebuild,
let’s send out the beast that has
invaded out land and rebuild our broken walls.
Nigeria will be great again.
Nigeria will be great again.
Nigeria will be the pride of the
world again, not only of Africa.
Let’s arise and rebuild our wealthy nation.
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE
